Motorcycle Season is Approaching – Avoid Head Injuries with these Tips

Harding Law Firm - Tuesday, April 05, 2016

One of the common cases that we deal with at Harding Law is accidents involving motorcyclists. Motorcyclists are more likely to be injured or killed in an accident than someone in an actual vehicle. With that being said, and with bike season quickly approaching, it is important to think about how you, as a motorcyclist, can avoid accidents that could potentially end fatally or with injuries.

Here are some tips for reducing your risk of accidents and injuries as a motorcyclist:

  1. MOST importantly – wear a helmet! Bikers who don’t wear a helmet are 40% more prone to fatal head injuries.
  2. Be aware of your surroundings. Although other drivers should be cautious around motorcyclists, it is best to prepare for the worst and always pay attention to what is going on around you and ride defensively.
  3. Anti-Lock Brakes. If your bike is not equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS), consider making the investment and getting them installed. This type of brake system allows you to keep control when coming to a sudden stop, especially in wet conditions.
  4. Make sure you can handle your bike. Before you ride, make sure you are completely comfortable with your motorcycle.

Using the above tips will help you exercise caution when riding your motorcycle and reduce your risk of accidents. However, if you or someone you know has been injured in an accident while on a motorcycle, contact the Harding Law Firm for a FREE consultation today!
